Up Date On A.J.

A.J will be having surgery sometime in October to remove the mass he has on his left lung. He had a CT Scan last month and it showed the mass was still there. He is still breathing fine and it don't seem to be bothering him right now but Dr. Langenburg wants to remove it when A.J is betweent he age of 6-9months. If they leave it in there, there is a chance it could turn into cancer later in life so that is why they will remove it.

Dr. Langenburg has seen this kind of mass before. He said they do at least 8-12 surgeries a year on kids to remove them so it's not uncommon. He showed us (mom and I) the CT Scan and the mass is taking up all of the upper lobe of that lung. The left lung only has two lobes and the right has three. So they will go in remove the mass and new lung will grow back. He will be in the hospital for 3-5 days and after he is out of the hospital he will be breathing just like he is now.

We will be going to see Dr. Langenburg one more time in September for last minute questions and to go over everything that will be done on the day of the surgery. We will also set up the day for surgery. I will keep you posted on what goes on and how he does after everything is done and over with. I know he will do just fine, he is a strong little guy and I know Grandma and Grandpa Treece are watching him and they will be by his side!!
